The U.S. Center for Maritime Innovation (USCMI) convened industry, government and regulatory leaders for a workshop on Maritime Nuclear Technology Regulatory Barriers.

The U.S. Center for Maritime Innovation (USCMI), with the Maritime Administration and facilitated by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), convened maritime, energy, and public-sector leaders for its Innovation Café focused on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies for maritime applications, advancing dialogue on next-generation propulsion and energy solutions for the U.S. maritime sector.

The SHIPS for America Act is a comprehensive approach to revitalizing the U.S. Merchant Marine by establishing national oversight and consistent funding for U.S. maritime policy, making U.S.-flagged vessels commercially competitive in international commerce by cutting red tape, rebuilding the U.S. shipyard industrial base, and expanding and strengthening mariner and shipyard worker recruitment, training, and retention.

President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order aimed at restoring and revitalizing the U.S maritime industry with implications for maritime innovation.

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) recently made a selection for the secretariat of the U.S. Center for Maritime Innovation.  The solicitation for the Center’s secretariat was made through the process of a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP). MARAD ultimately selected the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to establish and maintain the U.S. Center for Maritime Innovation as its secretariat.
